Affordable Home Schooling

Maybe you understand now that you have made the leap to Homeschool and are getting ready to jump into the great world of teaching your children in your home. You are now a one-payroll family choosing to teach your son or daughter at home sweet home. Or possibly you are still in the choosing stage. Besides fully thinking about your child’s happiness and if homeschooling is the correct direction for your child and which core curriculum to check out, the other thing on your conscience should be FINANCES! Yep, it takes capital to homeschool your children, in particular if you were used to two incomes and are now cutting it back to one.

How do you do it? What are some ways to aid you financially and help you better understand your standard of living so you can set up homeschooling so it will work for you. Here are a few of my favorite hints:

*Grasp on to the idea of a Determination Party: Budgeting is not unburden some because it means there will be sacrifices. If it were, we wouldn’t have all sorts of members of society in dept throughout the Unites States. Homeschooling on a budget needs the selection and teamwork of you and your wife AND your children. Ensure you are all 100% on board and grasp what activity on a “lessened bank account” means!

*Two months of Checking out: Command two months, and write down every single price. I mean all things, from the gum you singled-out at the gas station to the plane tickets to see grandma and grandpa. The deeper detailed you sculpt these “reports” of your money, the more it will enhance you and your wife realistically putting yourself on a budget. Yes, even the splurge outfit you selected at your favorite store. Legitimacy with yourselves is the central point to having critical success with your budgeting journey.

Advice For A New ESL Teacher

When you first arrive in your assigned country, the first few minutes can be shocking. The air smells different, the people surging around you are likely different, the looks of buildings and storefronts and wares for sale may all be different.

If you are in modern country, such as Japan, you will likely feel only slightly uncomfortable, as the airport will be clean and streamlined, although perhaps twice as busy as you expected. But signs will be in English, and you will have no problem navigating through the airport to the outside world.

If you are in a third-world country, the airport could be a far cry from anything remotely comfortable, with military soldiers everywhere, a crush of people, strange maybe even repulsive smells in the air, total chaos. If you are alone, this can be especially intimidating.

When I arrive in a new country, I am always surprised at the first few moments outside the airport. The sky looks different, the air smells different, the chaos of people coming and going is different. Finding a bus or taxi or jeepney can be a fun experience but it is more likely to be a trying experience, so it is best if someone can meet you and help you get oriented for the first trip from the airport to your place of residence.

Depending on your guest country, and the resources available, you may get a private room with a private bathroom, or a shared room and a public bathroom.

The school may look a wee bit different from the brochures, which tend to highlight greenery and other colourful aspects. Brochures also don’t tell you about oppressive tropical heat, or cold winds from the mountains.

Before starting your trip, you should read up on the culture of the country. For example, in Thailand, people would be shocked if you touched a child’s head, or if you washed your underwear and hung it outside to dry.

During my stay in Thailand, I managed a software development project and hired a couple of university-educated Thai women to help. We worked out of my two-bedroom apartment. One moved into the spare bedroom in the apartment, and the other slept on the sofa five nights a week. The one in the bedroom said she lived a long way away and the daily commute was aggravating. Fair enough. But the second one lived 20 minutes away by elevated electric train. I never really understood why she wanted to live with me. Perhaps I was a father-figure for her.

One day, I rounded up all the towels to put in the washing machine. The women had their own bathroom, and the towels were provided by me. The apartment was modern and fully equipped.

One of the women said, “Doug, what are you doing?”

I said, “I’m going to wash all the towels in the machine.”

She said, “But you took the white one.”

The white one was a cotton bathmat that had been on the floor in front of the shower.

“Yes, I will wash it with the others.”

“Doug, you can’t do that.”

“Why not?”

“It’s for the feet.”

Apparently in Thai culture, you don’t sully your body towels with foot towels.

I said, “Sorry, this is a machine, very hot water, with detergent and fabric softener. I am going to wash all the towels and bath mats together.”

She was unhappy with this, had a strange look on her face, like I had said something totally disgusting.

After the towels had been washed and dried, I took one of the bath towels and held it under her nose, and said, “Smell this.”

She took a whiff and said, “Oh, Doug, smell very good.”

I said, “That’s the fabric softener, it has perfume to make the towels smell good.”

Then I held the white bath mat under her nose. She didn’t move away, although I expected her to. “Smell this one.”

“Doug, same same.”

“Yes,” I said, “and now you know why I washed them together. In your culture, you wash them by hand, and would do the foot mats last. In my Western culture, with machines, we put them all in together and they come out the same.”

She accepted that. In this case Western culture overruled Thai culture.

As I write this in November 2007, a British ESL teacher has been arrested in Sudan, which is a Muslim country, for letting her primary school students name a teddy bear “Muhammed”. Although this is a very common name in Sudan and other Muslim countries, giving a toy bear this name is apparently insulting to Islam, according to the charges against her. One of the parents of the students complained to police and she was arrested. If found guilty, she could receive many years in prison, a hefty fine, and 40 lashes with a whip.

So learning something about the culture you will be living in is advice you should take seriously.

In Central and parts of South America, for instance, you might think the culture is Spanish, and that is certainly the dominant one, but the underlying Mayan culture is still there, especially amongst people whose primary language is Quechua or Aymara. Don’t assume you understand their culture because you know about Mexican or Spanish culture. Do some research first, so as to help you understand where they are coming from, and try to structure your lessons to fit with their culture. This can be as simple as changing place names: don’t talk about the Mississippi River, for example, use a local river instead. They will associate with that, but not associate with the Mississippi.

The beliefs and attitudes of your guest country will potentially be different from what you naively expected, so research! research! research!

As you become accustomed to your new daily routine, students, and fellow teachers, you will discover that some of the teachers have become cynical with time. They may have been there 20 years, and never say anything good about the place; they seem to live in a cloud of negativity. You will be eager and fired up and enjoying the challenge; they will talk about police purges, stupid management at the school, incompetent governments, corruption, and whatnot. The list is never-ending. Try to avoid these people. Live your own life, and be happy with the little differences and challenges that are thrown your way.

In Thailand, the vast majority of people are Buddhists. They are taught from an early age to meet adversity with a smile. One time, I was waiting under an awning for a tropical downpour to lessen. I watched a young lady attempt to cross the flooded street in front of me. She stepped in a hidden pothole, lost her balance, and fell face first into 6 inches of dirty water. She stood up, brushed the water off her face, and laughed. If that had been me, I would have been cursing. But she was a Buddhist. She laughed.

Meet adversity with a smile.

A good philosophy to live by.

If your assignment is in a third-world country, find out if the school and/or students have basic supplies. In rural Peru, for example, there might be one small chalkboard for a one-room school, no paper at all, and certainly no pens or pencils. While that kind of school is not going to have English classes, you can still help them enormously by traveling with two suitcases, one for your stuff, and the other filled with notebooks, pencils, chalk, small chalkboards, crayons, art paper, children’s scissors, etc. Before you start your flight, contact the school and find out if they need these supplies, or if they can put you in touch with a rural school that does. Those $50 worth of supplies might be more than a rural school has ever seen and will make a big difference.

Another piece of advice: keep a journal of your experiences. If you have Internet access, create a blog and update it regularly. But in any case, be careful not to write anything in your journal or blog that is critical of the school management, the local religion, or the government. That journal will be a treasured keepsake in future years, and remain with you the rest of your life.

After you’ve been living and teaching for a while in the guest country, returning to your home town in your native country can be a jarring experience: culture shock in reverse. You became an ESL teacher for the fun of travel, the joy of discovering a new culture, and now you’re back in Wal-Mart or Tesco standing in a queue behind an enormous fat lady with a shopping cart full of junk. Your mother is glad to see you, but you find your town boring, the food bland and voluminous.

If you are back for good, and have to get a job, you will probably find yourself bored out of your skull working in an office. Your co-workers will have no interest in your ESL experiences and couldn’t care less about the things you did and the places you went.

Pretty soon you will be scouring the Internet looking for other ESL jobs; you’ve got to follow your dreams, wherever they take you…

Advertising Careers

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 2:00 pm

Americans are bombarded by thousands of commercial messages everyday in the form of bouncy jingles, television commercials, and even printed advertisements hanging on bathroom stalls. Advertising agencies have launched a commercial war, using outrageously clever ideas and exhaustive market analysis to captivate the attention of a consumer for a mere sixty seconds. In a sense, working in advertising is like throwing a message in a bottle out into the ocean, hoping that it will reach the right destination. It is quite an enigma then why anyone would want to work in such a challenging, finger crossing, and stressful industry. For those inside the industry, the answer is simple: advertisements shape the way people act, think, and dream.

Producing an advertising campaign is an extremely elaborate process. Advertising agencies are responsible for understanding the objectives of a company, transforming that into an idea that will persuade consumers to buy the product, and then finally choosing the appropriate media to communicate that message, a three step process described as strategy, concept, and execution. Due to the complexity of this process, advertising professionals assume very specialized roles that fall into two very broad categories: creative and business. In the creative service department there are copy writers, graphic artists, photographers, and film makers who work together to conceptualize, plan, and produce an ad. Production is a great department to work in for creatives looking for entry-level positions that will allow for a good amount of networking that could lead to other careers in advertising.

The other advertising career tracks involved in the business aspect of advertising are account management, media, and account planning. At the entry-level, account managers are referred to as account coordinators, administrative assistants, or assistant account executives. Their duty is to ensure that ads move through the three step process in a smooth and timely manner. At times, these employees are called upon to perform marketing research or travel to assist at client meetings or ad shoots. Account executives act as liaisons between the client and creative departments to ensure that expectations are met and ideas are communicated accurately. From there, the ladder rungs follow as such: account manager, account supervisor, management supervisor, vice president, and eventually director. In the media department, most start off as assistant media planners, a primarily clerical position that involves researching consumer habits and plotting target audiences. Assistant media buyers purchase and monitor airtime and advertising space. From these positions, employees move on to become a media planner or buyer, senior media planner or buyer, media supervisor, vice president, and director. Finally, account planners conduct insightful focus and research groups in an attempt to qualify and quantify consumer buying habits.

Despite this highly efficient, organized, and specialized structure, nearly half of all advertising professionals worked more than forty hours a week, spending many extra nights and weekends in the office or on business trips. Insiders say the long hours are balanced by a fun, hip, and exciting work environment that allows employees to wear jeans on a normal day, bring their dogs into the office, and even play foosball to spark inspiration. It’s not hard to see then why the advertising industry is so popular amongst college graduates. Unfortunately, the market is extremely competitive and employers seek those that are creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, great with people, culturally aware, resilient to stress, and analytical&ndashand those are just the personality traits. Applicants are also expected to be experienced teamplayers, knowledgeable in marketing strategies and research, aware of rising technology, and accustomed to handling multiple projects and deadlines at the same time. Advertising training can be acquired through a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, preferably advertising, journalism, public relations, literature, sociology, philosophy, or psychology, with coursework in marketing, statistics, economics, accounting, mathematics, and creative design. Obtaining an internship in the field will provide you a distinct market advantage and some in-agency experience. Although creatives are hired on the basis of their talent, most jobs require at least a two year degree from an art or design school, demonstrated communication skills, and a portfolio of mock advertisements. For midcareer professionals looking to enter the business, expect to start from square one and, in general, be prepared to jump from agency to agency in order to advance.

The upside is this: advertising budgets are on the rebound as more companies begin to feel the strain of advancing global competition. It is projected that the advertising industry will increase faster than the average until 2012. This is good news considering that if you play your cards right, getting into the industry will not be as daunting as it once was. However, be prepared for less than encouraging paychecks. Most advertising professionals start off at around $30,000, but quickly move up with the success of their campaigns. The average advertising manager in the industry makes around $70,000 a year and the top ten percent make over $145,000. Look forward to a lot of upward mobility and a far from monotonous advertising career.

Alopecia

Alopecia is described as a condition in which the immune system eradicates the hair follicles. Alopecia can lead to hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. In most cases, the hair is lost in small, quarter-sized amounts and usually does not exceed the amount of a few patches. In more extreme cases, Alopecia can progress to cause complete hair loss of the scalp and other areas of the body. White blood cells in the immune system rapidly attack cells in hair follicles that make the hair grow. These affected cells become small and slow down hair production.

A fortunate aspect of this process is that the stem cells that constantly provide hair follicles with new cells are not targeted, so the potential to re-grow hair always exists. Scientists believe that people may be genetically predisposed to this condition and is caused by a possible virus or something in the immediate environment.

Living with Alopecia can be very difficult and socially intimidating, but .wigshop.com is both educated and concerned for their consumers and offer an extensive selection of wigs and accessories. Wigshop.com has links and references to books and resources that offer empathetic and informative information to those suffering through hair loss. Their site conveniently has a section specifically devoted to wigs due to medical hair loss.

Wigshop.com realizes that those who suffer from Alopecia may not be in need of a complete wig, but pieces and extensions to cover certain areas of hair loss. There are pieces specially crafted to fit any area of the head. One can choose from either the 100% natural hairpieces or synthetic fiber for shake and go ease. Whether the coverage you need is top, front, or a combination of both- you will feel confident about how great you look. These hair integration pieces are a simple and luxurious way to adding body, volume, and/or highlights to your hair.

Some may be concerned about how comfortable and safe their wig from the Wigshop.com can be. Innovations in the business have led to wigs becoming even lighter and comfortable than ever before. Thinner fabrics and lighter cap construction allows for a greater circulation and feel. Other features such as velvet bands can contribute to softness and the versatility in sizes and shapes ensures that anyone’s wig will feel and fit perfectly.

Other concerns have spawned from those with medical conditions which contribute to hair loss and who worry about the wig further worsening their condition. This is simply not something to be of concern, but quite the opposite. Wearing a wig will not harm the scalp nor inhibit the growth of natural hair.

Wearing a wig promotes better mental health and protects the scalp from sun and other damaging exterior factors. Wigshop.com realizes that its customers buy wigs to make them selves feel and look better and it is their mission that the consumer continues to do so.

Advantages Of Using Solar Mirror To Produce Power

Did you know that solar power is a renewable, clean and cheap source of energy?

Once the mystique is removed from the idea of using solar mirror to produce power people will began to understand how it all works. This will lead to people seeing how using solar mirror to produce power can be looked at as a viable alternative source of energy. In fact in this choice of solar power the largest component is the sun. Scientist and those in the private sector are even now looking for ways to make using solar mirror to produce power in homes and businesses more economically feasible

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When considering the choice of using solar mirror to produce power you should understand how it works right? Well if you can imagine that it works much the same way that leaving your garden hose laying in the sun all day on a hot sunny day. When you go to use it the first thing that comes out is hot water having been heated by the sun all day.

This is a simplified version of one way to utilize solar energy. There is usually a water container that collects the sun’s rays in the form of heat. After this is heated to a pre-determined temperature it is then properly utilized elsewhere.

Some common applications of this have been to heat water in swimming pools and ponds with water moved into large containers that are basked in the sun all day. The mechanism will then move the water back into the pool or pond once the water reaches a preset temperature which in turn helps heat the rest of the water. This of course has been utilized in more commercial applications as well.

Did You Know?

Approximately more than ten thousand homes in the United States are entirely powered by solar energy.

Another way that is properly thought of when considering using solar mirror to produce power gathering solar power through photovoltaic cells that in turn convert energy obtained from the sun DIRECTLY into electricity. This electricity produced is in Direct Current or (DC) format. This (DC) can then be stored directly into storage batteries. After this (DC) is converted to Alternating Current (AC) it can be used to operate lights and any other common appliance.

INTERESTING FACT:

Silicon from just one ton of sand used in photovoltaic cells could produce as much electricity as burning five hundred thousand tons of coal.

There are areas that have more average days of sunshine, like the southwestern part of the United States, where using solar mirror to produce power can be a good source of power. When you couple this with the fact that you are dealing with solar power which is clean, cheap and renewable it just makes sense. However, understanding how it works , you can see how using solar mirror to produce power may not be a good solution in areas of the country with several days of overcast skies and insufficient sunlight.

Advantages Of Online Education

Considering an online degree to improve your career and your living style? Online education is definitely a good option. Besides, there are so many advantages with which you can be benefited with if you pursue a distance learning course. Some of the benefits of online education are discussed below.

Low cost:

Online studies cost less than any college direct programs. Universities and college charge very less tuition fee for any online course compared to the direct program. You also do not have to live in college hostel or any other place away from your home. You can stay at your home with your family and pursue the online course. What you require is a computer and an internet connection. You do not have to spend a huge amount in living out of your home and family.

A flexible time schedule:

You will be the master of your own schedule. Time is not a constraint in an online course. You can attend lectures, complete assignments and take exams at your own time. You have to make your schedule as per your suitability. In case of a direct school program, you cannot schedule your own timetable. You have to go with the college timetable. So you are the driver of your own schedule of programs.

Effective learning:

Online learning is more effective due to technological involvement. You will get study materials easily through the internet. You do no have to work hard in taking notes of every lecture as in case of a direct college program. Universities and colleges offering online programs are facilitating transcripts, live discussions and training materials which can be retrieved via mail, e-mail or the school’s website for reading, downloading and printing. Instructors are also available at Students’ convenient times and respond to queries quickly through e-mail.

Convenient education:

Online education is student-centered learning. You can prioritize the things you want to learn as per your convenience. Also, it will be your choice that which distance educational methodology &ndash audio, visual or oral components, you want to use. You will dictate your own terms and make the learning enjoyable.

Performance matters most:

In online education degree programs, there is fair playing field. Here there is no teacher-student direct interaction and the decision-making will not be based on the candidates’ gender, physical appearance, ethnicity or gender. So your performance matters most in online study.

Despite all these advantages in online education, you may face some disadvantages also. Online courses are not accepted by some employers as they think it not so effective like other direct courses. You may not be able to motivate yourself in online learning, as you yourself have to drive your own decision and motivation.

All courses are not available online. Besides, online learning requires a complete dedication and patience from the students. So you have to decide whether an online course will help you or you will not be successful in a distance-learning program. There are so many universities and colleges offering online programs all across the United States.

Advantages Of Homeschooling

Why So Many Families are Making the Homeschool Choice

It is no secret, homeschooling is becoming the more and more popular choice for families seeking the best education for their students. And the advantages of homeschooling are so vast that you could easily encounter ten different homeschooling families and hear ten different advantages of homeschooling.

As a result, it is difficult to define the main advantages of homeschooling without missing key advantages or reasons that people choose to homeschool. In fact, one could easily say that the advantages of homeschooling are only limited by the imagination of each homeschooling parent.

When polled, however, homeschoolers agreed on several major advantages of homeschooling.

At the heart of all of these advantages is Freedom!

The freedom advantage encompasses many of the advantages of homeschooling cited by homeschooling families:

• Freedom to instill values and morals that are consistent with the religion of the family

• Freedom to define their own schedule

• Freedom to spend time as a family

• Freedom to pursue other interests

• Freedom to focus on necessary academics

• Freedom for real world socialization.

These freedoms and much more make homeschooling the choice for families all around the world.

Read on to learn about the four major freedom advantages of homeschooling:

Advantage #1&ndashFreedom to Instill Morals and Values

Advantage #2&ndashFreedom to Develop Real Life Socialization

Advantage #3&ndashFreedom of Flexibility

Advantage #4&ndashFreedom as a Family

Advantages of homeschooling #1

Freedom to instill values and morals that are consistent with the religion of the family.

Many homeschooling families cite this as the number one reason they choose to homeschool their children and therefore one of the main advantages of homeschooling. In a world where religious freedom is attacked from all sides, parents are choosing to take back their rights and invest time into the character and beliefs of their children.

These parents are raising their children in an environment where their convictions drive the education. Conviction leads to passion; it leads to direction; it leads to a sense of purpose. As a result, parents who homeschool out of conviction tend to be very successful teachers.

Think back to your favorite teacher. Was he an individual who did not really care about what he was teaching? Was she someone who lacked any kind of drive or purpose? I would venture to say that your best teacher was someone whose passion was evident. And when passion drives you, you can implement that passion into every subject, into every activity, into every aspect of your homeschooling program.

This is a huge advantage for homeschooling families. Not only do they have the opportunity to train their children in the way they should go, but their passion makes the program all the more dynamic. And this is a major advantage in any school setting.

Advantages of homeschooling #2

Socialization

Why list socialization as one of the advantages of homeschooling? Isn’t this the topic that causes the most controversy for homeschoolers? Indeed, this is one of the major concerns for new homeschoolers as well as people on the outside.

But the fact is, homeschoolers have an advantage in the area of socialization.

Why? It has long been recognized among college admissions counselors that homeschoolers have the advantage over their peers in the ability to converse and interact with their professors and other personnel without intimidation. They also have the advantage of working with fellow students of all ages because this has been the way their schooling was structured every day for years.

Rather than experiencing the controlled socialization of a classroom, the secret exchanges when the teacher isn’t looking, and the limits of socializing only with children their own age, homeschoolers socialize at all kinds of different levels.

Younger students have the advantage of learning from older homeschoolers who they encounter through support groups, field trips, homeschool “classes” and more. And one of the advantages for older students is that they develop a sense of responsibility and concern as role models for younger students.

Homeschoolers also have the distinct advantage of working with people of all ages, income levels, and professions. Parents need only tap into the endless opportunities to help their child develop their character, their social skills, and their ability to handle life.

I hear comments all the time about how well homeschoolers handle themselves with adults, with other students and in difficult situations. The time spent with their parents has given them the advantage of seeing first hand how to solve real life problems, how to balance their schedule, how to handle tough situations, and how to find the time to get it all done.

Advantages of homeschooling #3

Flexibility

For some, the flexibility advantage means a schedule that meets the demands of their situation; others view the flexibility advantage as the ability to customize curriculum to the needs of their child; and still others view the flexibility advantage as the ability to allow their child to dig deeper into a topic rather than simply move on the next unit.

Many homeschooling families are families on the move. Whether this is because of work demands or kids who are involved in sports, acting, dance, etc., they need a flexible schedule. One of the advantages of homeschooling is that it allows a family to remain a family while also meeting the demands of an active schedule.

Customized curriculum is a huge advantage to homeschooling. Homeschoolers are not limited to curriculum at a set grade level. Instead, they are able to determine the exact level to meet their skills and abilities and begin there. This means that some homeschoolers will be working at a fifth grade level in math, a sixth grade level in English, and still another level for other subjects. This approach gives students the advantage of mastering necessary concepts before moving on and to progressing quickly in those subjects where he or she is most successful.

It also has the advantage of opening the door for further study in a topic of interest. If your student is taking a literature course in school and is fascinated by William Shakespeare, the teacher will not stop and allow extra weeks for further study. Instead, the passion ignited soon takes a back seat to the demands of the class. Homeschooling families can take advantage of those passions and allow students to dig deeper and learn more.

Advantages of homeschooling #4

Family Time

This is one of the biggest advantages to homeschooling! Where better to nurture relationships, build confidence, instill character, and strengthen bonds than the family? Research indicates that students in families who eat at last one meal together per day are more successful and less likely to get into trouble. Imagine the impact that you can have on your child’s future by increasing your family time tenfold!

Will your child learn from peers and/or teachers who may or may not share the same values or will he have the advantage of learning from you? What character traits will they model as adults?

One of the advantages of homeschooling is that through you, they will learn to respect elders; they will be spared the down beating so prominent in schools today; they will develop confidence in who they are; and they will become adults.

Time with the family is so short&ndashhomeschooling allows you to maximize that time and enjoy your children.

The advantages of homeschooling are limitless! In fact, the advantages you experience may be completely different from the advantages listed here. However, the advantage of instilling your own morals and values, the advantage of socialization, the advantage of flexibility, and the advantage of family time are all advantages of homeschooling that center around freedom! And that is one advantage that applies to everyone!

Advanced Technical Indicators And Tools For The Modern Day Trader

Technical Analysis uses historical prices to identify trends and support and resistance levels. Technical indicators are derived from mathematical algorithms that use historical data to provide a current value. Most are therefore by definition lagging.

Some of the popular lagging indicators include moving averages and MACD. If you are a short term trader, these types of indicators will most likely be useless to you as their signals tend to be very late. By the time a moving average crossover occurs for example, a significant portion of the price move has already occurred.

On the other hand we have the so called “leading” indicators. Leading indicators as implied in the name are designed to lead price movements. Most of the popular ones that we know of at the moment represent some form of price momentum over a fixed look-back period. This is the number of periods used to calculate the indicator. For example, a 20-day Stochastic Oscillator would use the past 20 days of price action in its calculation and all prior price action should be ignored.

Some of the more popular leading indicators include Commodity Channel Index (CCI), Momentum, Relative Strength Index (RSI), Stochastic Oscillator and Williams %R.

One of the biggest problems short-term day traders face when using these “standard” leading indicators is that their predictive power in non-trending market conditions is largely negated. For example, when looking at the Relative Strength Index (RSI) would it be safe to buy when the indicator is oversold or sell when it is overbought? Or would a Momentum indicator tell us where price is going next? Most likely it wouldn’t.

For currency traders it gets even worse. The predictive power of these standard leading indicators is even further negated because of the persistent external news events that cause radical price moves in relation to the most recent moves. Furthermore, most of these indicators were developed for use in stock market trading decades ago. They were developed in a context where real time information didn’t exist. For currency traders, real time information is the norm.

If you’re a day trader, you might be asking what technical indicators should I be using then?

A small software company from the United States has developed a day trading software for traders called Wave 59. Wave 59 is built exclusively by traders, for traders. It contains many unique trading tools and advanced technical indicators designed for the modern day trader willing to look at markets in a slightly different way. The software is free to try for a 30 day evaluation period on the Wave 59 website.

Some of the more interesting tools and advanced technical indicators on offer to day traders are:

Geometric Patterns &ndash Geometric patterns are supposed to exploit the relationship between the price and time axis. Unless you have been working with Gann techniques, chances are you don’t realize the potential of geometric patterns. They are real and are appear often in any market. If you find a good one, it could give you a bigger trading edge than any RSI or moving average calculation.

The Fibonacci Vortex &ndash a very unique support and resistance tool. It is the geometric pattern behind the majority of price swings found in all traded markets. You simply place it on your chart, line it up against recent price action and watch as the market bounces off predetermined turning points in both time and price.

Time and Price Patterns - Generally, with similar types of trading software that try to identify repeating patterns in a chart, the user has no influence on the type of patterns the applications recognize as they are usually pre programmed. By contrast, Wave59 provides you with a simple to use pattern builder allowing the creation and definition of customized patterns which can be inserted in the chart or the program can search for a similar pattern in prices.

The Wave59 software also contains many improved versions of popular trading techniques.

For example, their “Fractal Trend Index” resembles the behavior of the better known ADX indicator. The “Ultra Smooth Momentum” curve is like many of the more widely used momentum curves but without the noise. These two tools are examples of improved algorithms and should in theory outperform the popular versions of these standard indicators as they are calculated using an enhanced mathematical formula.

Adult Education: Is A College Degree Right For You?

Adults who are considering pursuing continuing education have a variety of choices when it comes to earning a degree or certificate. They can pursue college degrees through a community college or four-year institution, receive training and certification through vocational or trade programs, or simply expand their knowledge and skills through basic adult education classes. The avenue that you choose very much depends on your individual goals and needs.

If you are interested in pursuing a specific career path then the degree or certification and training you need for that career will certainly play a large role in determining what type of school and program you choose. Spend time studying the programs available at the schools in your area. The point of this exercise is not to choose a school but rather to look at the options open to you. What interests you? Can you picture yourself working in that field?

If you have been out of school for a long time then you may want to test the waters with a basic adult education class first. Adult education classes can help you brush up on basic skills, such as writing or computer use, as well as help you get back into the swing of being a student. The classes are also often much more affordable than a class you would take at a college or institute and often involve less time commitment as well.

If you are unsure what career path you would like to take then you should consider earning a general diploma from a local community college. Perhaps while working toward that degree you will discover interests and talents you had not suspected previously. Then you will be able to apply your classes to your new degree without difficulty. Even if you do not find a vocation that interests you, that general studies diploma will still help you further your professional life.

Furthering your education and training whether in your existing field or a new profession is always beneficial. While pursuing a college degree might be the best option you owe it to yourself to check out adult basic education classes as well as community college programs and technical and training schools.

Adhd After School

Most forward-thinking teachers and instructors understand how to meet the special needs of children with ADHD. Unfortunately, many parents don’t.

ADHD is an acronym for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Children with ADHD struggle with attention problems, as well as hyperactivity. Teachers are trained to help ADHD kids deal with their personal obstacles and meet their learning potential. However, parents can often find it difficult to keep children safely occupied after school hours.

If your child has ADHD, the first step to choosing the right after school activity is to understand how he or she is affected by the condition. If your child is interested in sports, you need to know if he or she is put off by fierce competitiveness, or is overly competitive. Is it easy for your child to get along with teammates? Does your child vocalize emotions, or is communication a problem?

Physical exercise is beneficial to all children, and perhaps more so for children with ADHD. Exercise can use up the extra energy and help stimulate the brain. Team activities offer kids to learn valuable social skills and discipline. If your child shies away from team sports, you may want to look at activities like swimming, dancing, cycling or gymnastics. Martial arts are a great alternative, as they teach self-defense techniques along with discipline, patience and self-control.

Some kids tend to gravitate towards fine arts rather than athletics. There are wonderful after school opportunities for artistic kids with ADHD. Acting or improv classes provide a great form of creative expression and exercise. Drama classes can also provide the child with ample opportunity to develop social skills. Music, art or dance can help a child with ADHD keep busy and entertained, while providing a valuable sense of self-worth and accomplishment.

Scouting is another good after-school option. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other community-oriented clubs teach children social skills and personal values. Like all children, kids with ADHD love to take part in special interest projects, and help with community efforts like park clean-up projects.

Whatever after school program you choose, be sure to monitor your child’s progress periodically. Ask your child’s coach, instructor or counselor for help in assessing your child’s development. If you feel that he or she is not benefiting from the program, you may need to consider changing the activity.

Any after school program that increases your child’s self-esteem is good, but certain activities may be detrimental to the development of a child suffering from ADHD. Excessive television use should be avoided, as well as certain computer and video games. These activities involve no interaction and can leave your child feeling more all the more isolated. Kids with ADHD can sometimes find it difficult to distinguish between good and the bad messages, so they may be inclined to exhibit inappropriate actions or act out contrary messages. On the other hand, group activities that require a child to sit and wait patiently for his or her turn might not be a success.

Children with ADHD are normal kids facing above average challenges. It is important to allow them to take part with their peers in regular after school programs. Take the time to review options with your child, and choose after school activities that are fulfilling, challenging and above all, rewarding.
