Experience Is Important In Computer Aided Drafting

From the massive skyscrapers in New York City and the tallest building in the United Emirates to the millions of cars driven on the road everyday and the electronics that consume everyone’s life, computer aided drafting plays a part in shaping each of these entities. Also known as computer aided design, this form of drafting plays a vital role in every aspect of the design and manufacturing process. Without this career field, the world would not be as advanced as it is today and the process of creating new ideas and buildings would be an even more difficult process.

Constructing elaborate buildings and designing innovate automobiles requires a lot of time and important details that most people are not aware of. To help complete these projects, computer aided drafting is used. It is primarily used in architectural design, mechanical design, as well as customization and programming. However, there are many fields that require computer drafting and design. Drafters use computer programs to create products, such as buildings or automobiles by creating two-dimensional designs, technical drawings, three dimensional models or prototypes.

The type of software used with computer drafting has come along way since its first inception, and the program used depends on the type of results the end user would like to achieve. There are programs available for every need, such as animation, freeform surface modeling, engineering models and three-dimensional parametric modeling, among other programs. Each program is uniquely designed for the task at hand.

Not only can computer aided drafting systems create models, but it can work as a database as well. A lot of times when architects or engineers are creating products, there is a lot of data and calculations involved in the process. Many of these systems are able to do calculations to help with the development of the products. They can also import and export data to various programs allowing users to easily display information for individuals who do not have access to a system, but still need the information. Most systems are also automated, which makes the process of creating a project easier for the user. By having automated software, users can input information about the product and let the software begin the process.

In order to become a drafter or designer, individuals need the proper education and training. This would include attending a college or university to obtain a bachelor’s degree in computer aided drafting. While in school students will learn the important aspects of drafting. This includes knowledge in how to create models and drawings using the necessary software, how to customize using the computer equipment, how to develop three-dimensional designs and various other skills necessary for the career field.

Students will also gain real world experience in this career field, which allows them to develop a portfolio of work. Once a student begins the job search, it is important to have an established portfolio that displays the work they have completed. It shows that not only does the student have the basic knowledge of this career field, but also is able to take the knowledge he or she learned in the classroom and implement it in real job functions. If a potential employer interviews one graduate who has excellent grades in a computer aided drafting program, but has no practical experience and interviews another graduate who also has excellent grades, but has an established portfolio from practical experience, the employer is most likely going to choose the experienced candidate. It just goes to show how important it is for students to gain hands on experience.

Facing The Facts With An Information Technology Degree

Getting an information technology degree makes perfect sense in a world where the technology’s expansion rate shows no signs of slowing down. Those who love to work with computers and are looking for a solid and dependable career choice would be wise to consider the information technology field. No matter where one goes in the world, IT professionals will find their skills in demand.

It is no secret how much daily life has come to depend on computers and their various aspects. From computer programming to network engineering, the demand for intelligent and detail focused individuals are an essential element. This is especially true if things are expected to stay running in a functional and efficient manner.

Unbeknownst to many, there are a number of different career choices when it comes to the information technology field. While some careers are very detail oriented and have individuals working in solitary environments, others require the cooperation of many departments at a time. While some careers require an individual to think fast on their feet others simply require following preset instructions.

As long as a person has an interest in computers, there is likely a career in information technology that they will find fulfilling. As technology changes so do certain aspects of an information technology career. This guarantees an individual will never get stuck in a rut when it comes to their job.

More often than not, getting an information technology degree will also entail getting a particular type of certification in such areas as Cisco’s CCNA or Microsoft’s MCSE and other applications. These specialized skills can help further their career and gain just the earning power they have been looking for. In fact, many companies only hire individuals with qualifications held in these types of programs.

A reputable information technology program is one that works closely with vendors such as Microsoft to help students get certified in all programs from MCSA and MCAD to Comptia’s A+ or Net+. Because technology changes as rapidly as it does, students may find they will need to update their certification from time to time. However, this keeps them at the forefront of the newest technologies as they emerge.

As technology progresses, the need for computer savvy technicians also rises; however, IT positions are not just filled by those walking in off the street. Until a person gets the right skills with the right education, an IT job will be completely off limits. Taking part in an accredited program will get the wheels going on an individual’s IT career in no time.

Depending on what an individual hopes to achieve, he or she can spend as little as one year learning the ropes for a new IT career. Extensive degrees can take two to four years to complete. The bonus of getting an information technology degree is that a person can build their career goals in the direction that fits them best.

For those already in the field looking to advance themselves, an accredited school can offer financial aid. This can help cut back on the reservations that many adults have about going back to school. Many schools offer financial aid specialists that help individuals hatch just the right plan to get them where they want to go.

An information technology degree has helped many individuals get high paying jobs with both large and small companies in every industry across the board. Some information technology jobs can boast the highest starting salaries of any career choice available. This has made information technology jobs one of the most sought after careers ever.

Exploring Curiosity: Hunger For The Unknown

When we are born, we are open and curious and fascinated at the new world around us. We are sponges. And as we develop, and if, and only if, our basic needs are satisfied, we grow to the point of requiring self-actualization.

Learning. Curiosity. Creativity. Knowledge.

If you are interested in persuasion, odds are, you’ve got most of your basic requirements met. You’ve moved on to this higher level of consciousness where you want to absorb more and more of this field of human nature, stretching your boundaries and expanding your intellect.

As you study persuasion you’ll find that this field is about much more than studying–it’s about asking for what you want and need and watching them all fall into place.

The key to living right is using persuasion in all facets of everything we do. Parenting, relationships, business associations, even setbacks and challenges, can all be clarified and made stronger with persuasion skills.

As we engage in the world, these tools open doors, freeing us from limitations (self imposed) and allow us to take control.

We are explorers: persuasion pioneers, on the frontiers of human nature.

My students and clients already understand what I’m describing here, but if you are new to this the power surge, the intense feeling you will get once you realize how powerful persuasion is, will skyrocket you to new levels of confidence and opportunity.

Scientists know all about DNA now. It’s all mapped out. They understand its strains.

What does this DNA tell us? Well, that we’re very predictable organisms. It’s unsettling just how predictable we are, how mathematical the process is, that all of our inner drives, our inner selves, our dreams, our potential for success, all of it can be mapped out.

Personally, I like to think I’m a very complex being, and it upsets me a little to think that everything about me can be mapped out.

And while it may be uncomfortable to realize that we are absolutely predictable, it is invaluable information for us as persuaders and it is the key to selling anything to anybody, any time.

In terms of selling to the affluent there is a very different trigger than selling to others, perhaps this is a result of their heightened ability to acquire. Once we get their criteria, we can combine it with predictable patterns of the affluent.

Combining that with our agenda, our product, or our service results in an alchemy of persuasion, almost impossible to resist.

Once I began focusing persuasion instead of sales training, I discovered unfolding insights everyday. These insights have been instrumental in helping me to find my life’s purpose and to feel in control of my life instead of feeling like I’m just being swept along the river of life. You can have this enlightened feeling too.

I am thrilled to lead this exploration into the uncharted (and charted) territory of persuasion and with together we will map out the persuasion universe.

Eyewitness Testimony: An Enduring Topic Of Psychological Enquiry

The study of eyewitness testimony can be traced back over 100 years. This article outlines how it all began and examines the most commonly researched areas of investigation.

In 1896 Albert Von Schrenk-Notzing testified at the trial of a man accused of murdering three women. Drawing on research into memory and suggestibility he argued that pre-trial publicity meant that witnesses could not distinguish between what they actually saw and what had been reported in the press.

The formal study of eyewitness testimony is usually examined within a framework of cognitive processing, which put simply refers to the different ways in which we make sense of the world around us.

We do this by employing the mental skills at our disposal such as thinking, perception, memory, awareness, reasoning and judgment. Although cognitive processes can only be inferred and cannot be seen directly, they all have very important practical implications within a legal context.

Given that the way we think, perceive, reason and judge can be less than perfect it’s easy to understand why the factors influencing these processes are studied by psychologists’; not least because of the grave implications that this imperfection can have within the criminal justice system. As Huff and Rattner note:

the single most important factor contributing to wrongful conviction is eyewitness misidentification.

Stages of eyewitness memory:

Stage 1: Witnessing the incident.

When witnessing an incident, information about the event is entered into memory, however, research has shown that the accuracy of this initial information acquisition can be influenced by a number of factors.

Take the duration of the event being witnessed for instance. In a very simple experiment conducted by Clifford and Richards(1977), participants are instructed to approach a number of police officers and engage in conversation for either 15 or 30 seconds.

Thirty seconds after the conversation ends, the experimenter asks the police officer to recall details of the person they had just been speaking to using a 10-item checklist. The checklist contains items relating to the persons appearance such as hair colour, facial hair etc. The results of the study showed that in the longer 30 second condition, police were significantly more accurate in their recall.

Stage 2: Waiting period before giving evidence.

This stage is concerned with the period of retention between perception i.e., seeing an incident and the subsequent recollection of that incident. Unsurprisingly, research has consistently found that the longer the gap between witnessing an incident and recalling the incident, the less accurate the recollection of that incident becomes.

There have been numerous experiments, usually related to a staged event, that support this contention. Malpass and Devine (1981), for instance, compared the accuracy of witness identifications after 3 days (short retention period) and 5 months (long retention period). The study found no false identifications after 3 days but after 5 months, 35% of identifications were false.

Stage 3: Giving evidence.

The final stage in the eyewitness memory process relates to the ability of the witness to access and retrieve information from memory. In a legal context, the retrieval of information is usually elicited through a process of questioning and it is for this reason that a great deal of research has investigated the impact of types of questioning on eyewitness memory.

The most substantial body of research has concerned leading questions, which has consistently shown that even very subtle changes in the wording of a question can influence subsequent testimony.

One of the most notable researchers in this field is Elizabeth Loftus who has been investigating eyewitness testimony for over thirty years. In one of her classic studies, participants witnessed a film of a car accident and were asked to estimate the speed of the cars involved. One group of witnesses were asked to estimate the speed of the cars when they contacted each other. A second group of witnesses were asked to estimate the speed of the cars when they smashed each other.

On average the first ‘contacted’ group gave an estimate of 31.8 miles per hour. Whereas, the average speed in the ’second’ smashed group was 40.8 miles per hour.

Experimental validity:

In any discussion of eyewitness memory, you’ll see the terms, ‘experiment’, ‘participants’ and ’staged event’ frequently used. This is because the majority of research into eyewitness memory has been conducted within psychology laboratories.

This raises the very important issue of whether it is possible to generalise the findings obtained under these artificial conditions to real life cases.

The simple, if unsatisfactory answer is that it is very difficult to say. Take for instance the work of Yuille and Cutshall, these researchers conducted a case study with witnesses to a real shooting incident, interviewing them just after the event and again 5 months later. They concluded that the performance and accuracy of the witnesses differed in several respects to what would be expected according to the experimental literature.

However, the strength of laboratory based research is that the experimenter is able to exercise a great deal of control over what happens. In the case study reported by Yuille and Cutshall, it was impossible to know the extent to which the witnesses had conferred and how much media coverage of the incident they had seen, and how much influence this had on their testimony.

Ever wonder what to do with your Fairfax County Schools

student over the summer? Are you reluctant to place your elementary student in daycare or let your middle or high school student “just hang out”? The summer programs at Fairfax, VA Schools may be for you! Studies suggest that students can lose the knowledge they have gained during the school year over the summer holidays. No matter how academically successful kids are, most of them choose entertainments such as arcades, beaches, lakes, or water parks, being with friends, or going to the movies over learning activities.

However, this is not always what Fairfax, VA Schools parents want for their kids over the summer. While it’s extremely important for kids to enjoy some downtime from the school year’s more rigorous schedule, there’s no reason that some learning can’t be thrown into a child’s summer plans.

For some Fairfax, VA Schools students, summer school is a necessity. While all kids can be successful in school, there are those students who struggle. For them, attending a summer school class in the subject area they struggle with the most is a must, and may even be required by some schools. Kids who are in danger of be retained in their current grade level may actually avoid retention by attending summer school. Fairfax, VA Schools students who are below grade level and need the extra boost that a general education summer school class can give, have the option to attend school for free in Fairfax, VA Schools. In this school zone, students who wish, need, or are required to go to a general education class in summer school pay no tuition, and may qualify for transportation depending on the program or location of the Fairfax, VA Schools offering the class.

For other Fairfax, VA Schools students, enrichment camps are the way to go. Keeping a student busy is important during the months of summer vacation. What better way to challenge them and give them the opportunity to learn something they are interested in which may not be offered during the regular Fairfax, VA Schools school year than going to a Fairfax, VA Schools summer school? Let’s face it, most, if not all kids are eager to go back to school in the fall. While they have been missing their friends and the social opportunities that school offers, they are most likely, although secretly, also missing the mental stimulation that school provides. They might not even know that’s what they miss about school, but they miss it all the same. Kids thrive on routine &ndash they feel secure knowing what’s going to happen on any given day, and school provides that for them. Attending summer school at one of the Fairfax, VA Schools, whether for general education or for enrichment, is a smart way to meet this need for any child. Programs offered in Fairfax, VA Schools cover all grade levels, K-12.

Fairy Tales For Preschoolers

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 10:13 pm

PreSchool Children love Fairy Tales. I can think of no better way to pass an afternoon than listening to someone narrate one of the classic childrens stories of all time.

My favorite, Beatrix Potters first charming tale of Peter Rabbit. Children around the world love to hear about the adventures of this lovable little rabbit as he sneaks to the forbidden garden of Mr McGregor.

How about the silly antics of Winnie The Pooh by A.A. Milne. Every child adores a romp through the Hundred Acre Woods.

Reading takes children into the wonderful world of fantasy. Fairy Tales help to spark imagination and curiosity. Fairy Tales usually have a moral that makes sense to preschoolers. Children love fairy tales because they are usually silly and bring to life animals and toys. And best of all, reading to young children encourages them to learn to read on their own. Kids get excited about books and continue to read on their own long after the fairy tale years.

Children of any age can benefit from books, and it’s always best to make time for reading. Audiobooks make it easy for parents and teachers to fit in extra reading time. A professionally narrated book is like a full scale play. The narrators bring the story to life while the children sit captivated until the very end.

Reading to children helps build vocabulary skills, become better readers and certainly reading to children will help to develop listening skills.

Just 20 minutes of reading to kids every day will make a fundamental difference in so many ways. Check with your local library, they usually have a story time program for preschoolers that meet regularly. Kids love to be part of a special group and this will add further encouragement. Build a strong foundation for your children now and see the benefits for a lifetime.

Fake Online University Degrees

Straits Times journalist from Singapore, Lim Yee Hung reported in a newspaper article that he received two university degrees last week. One is an associate degree in Criminal Justice and the other is a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. It took him just one week to get both degrees. If university degrees are that easy to get, they are probably fake degrees.

He went on to say in the report that he got the associate criminal justice degree from Belford University and the journalism degree from True Diplomas paying a total of US$349 for the degrees excluding freight charges without any studying on his part or examinations to take.

He called Belford University’s hotline before buying the degrees and was assured that Belford University degrees are perfectly legal, properly accredited and accepted all over the world. In order for an applicant to qualify for a Belford online degree, the candidate must have sufficient ‘life experience’ or an ‘online equivalency test’ which can be done under one hour.

True Diploma have no degrees of their own to offer for they sell replica and imitation degrees from about 115 genuine universities including Ivy League universities such as Brown University and Cornell University. The degrees offered by True Diploma are certainly fakes and they tell you upfront about it.

When Lim received The Belford University degree, he found that it was very impressive. Along with the degree package were also educational transcripts with grades for each module. The university seal is embossed on the degree and looks authentic. How could there be grades and transcripts if tests and examinations are not taken?

The journalism degree though can be easily spotted as a fake. There are glaring misspelling and grammatical errors. For example, in his degree, December was spelt as Decemberf.

He reported that in the United States, fake degree scams are so rampant that the problem is seen as a national security threat. An audit in May 2004 showed that a total of 463 employees in the federal government had fake academic degrees. Some were even high ranking officials in sensitive positions with top level security clearance to boot.

According to fake degree mill expert John Bear, co-author of Degree Mills, fake degree mills are a billion dollar industry having sold thousands of fake online degrees and diplomas every week internationally.

Although some employers may check the qualifications of a prospective employees directly by calling up the university which awarded the degrees, this screening may not be effective against some degree mills as some of these degree mills provide verification services. Employers who called are told that the job applicant is indeed a graduate from that particular university.

However, not all college and university online degree programs are frauds. There are some great universities such as Harvard University offer online degrees.

So if you want to get an online degree, then it is prudent for you to do a thorough due diligence and check with your local educational authorities for the online university’s authenticity so that you will not end up with a fake degree by a costly mistake.

Feed Your Memory With Attention

Have you ever thought of how you’re able to remember names, things and faces? How about thinking about the way your memory works? Maybe you have but some of you have not thought about it all. How about this, picture how you’re able to recognize some information easily while the rest just wont sink in at all.

There are times when our memory won’t work on the right places when we need them to work. It is just downright frustrating. And yes, our memory lets us down for many instances in a year and we don’t even know why it happens. The truth is, our brain doesn’t have any problem in picking up and storing as many information as it can along the way. The problem comes in the retrieving part &ndash when we need to take a thought from our mind and say it out loud or write it down for some purpose.

What we fail to do however, is to realize that for each memory we create, at the very moment our mind sinks the information in, we do not take the time to study what it is, or to observe its characteristics. We then blame our memory for failing us. The answer to this is to give our full attention to every little detail that comes our way or make that every bit of sight, sound, smell, texture and taste that we encounter. It works perfect since when we absorb the thought to our memory, we have all the details we need and in turn, when we retrieve the same information, we have the complete details. Problem solved? Almost.

In memorization, there are techniques which we can use to help us enhance our thinking skills. It’s also the ideal way how to exercise our minds in absorbing and memorizing information.

If you need to memorize numbers for example, try grouping them together to numbers you’re familiar with. Let’s say the numbers 7 1 0 3 8 4 5 6 2 4 need your immediate memorization. Group them together like this: 78014 365 24 where 78014 is a zip code in TX, 365 is the number of days in a year and 24 the number of hours in a day. Try a different sequence of numbers and clump them together. You’ll see how easy this works for you, and for everybody else.
