The Importance Of Preschool Teachers

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 12:42 pm

Preschool is an optional school experience designed for children at least two and a half years old, up until the age of five when they enter kindergarten. While some preschool programs are offered through the public school system, most are offered through private or religious institutions. Such programs generally offer a play-based curriculum that prepares children for the school environment. Preschool teachers facilitate this experience for children in their classroom.

Preschool teachers are crucial to a successful preschool experience. For many children, preschool colors the way that they forever look at school; it is this first experience that should foster a lifelong love of learning and an overall sense of comfort and achievement within the preschool environment. Preschool teachers will often take basic concepts and incorporate them into play. Children at this age learn through play concepts that incorporate all of their senses. While they are having fun and practicing essential social concepts &ndash being respectful of each other, taking turns, etc. &ndash they are unaware that they are even absorbing educational concepts. Effective preschool teachers are able to engage the preschooler and offer lessons through these playful avenues.

Physical activities, such as ball play, foster hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills, writing games sharpen fine motor skills, card games help to encourage memory retention, and games focused on books instill a love of reading and language. Preschool teachers, in many cases, are extremely involved in the development of the curriculum &ndash incorporating ABC’s, math, social sciences, and history through learning games. Today’s modern preschool teachers also have the computer at their disposal; computer games designed for preschoolers teach a variety of fun-filled lessons through the use of color, sound, and interactive games.

Qualifications for preschool teachers vary according to state however accreditation in some capacity is unilaterally required. State regulations dictate the level of education preschool teachers must have. But ultimately, the most important qualification for preschool teachers is the ability to instill a joy of learning that stays with their young students for a lifetime.

The Importance Of Qualified Home School Teaching

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 8:38 pm

Many parents, faced with inadequate schooling for their children or a child’s particular educational needs that a district can not effectively handle, choose instead to home school their child. Home schooling &ndash when done appropriately and responsibly &ndash can be enormously effective in educating children in particular situations. However, qualified home school teaching is paramount to achieving results.

Parents choose the option of home schooling for a variety of reasons. In some cases, the quality of education is lacking in their area school district, classrooms are overcrowded, or particular educational needs can not be met by existing programs. While private schooling may sometimes be an option, in many cases it is cost-prohibitive. In other cases, learning or physical disabilities hinder students regardless of what traditional school environment they attend. In all of these cases, home schooling can provide an efficient and successful alternative to traditional learning environments.

Those providing home school teaching &ndash most often the parent of the child being home schooled &ndash must make a commitment to keeping the student on par with the curriculum being offered through the public school system. Each particular state offers their own guidelines regarding home school teaching requirements. Those interested in home school teaching should possess a strong desire to have a positive impact on their student’s education; the rest will come with experience. Home school curriculum in line with state guidelines can be found online and will lead instructors step-by-step through the process.

Parents who choose home schooling are often intimidated by the teaching process. What they will soon discover is that home school teaching is ultimately the communication of information in a way that works for each particular student. For example, if your child learns best through sound, you may find that you do well with the use of DVD instruction in your home school teaching. Other students need a more hands-on approach. If you listen and observe the needs of your child you will often find a way to customize your home school teaching.

Home school teaching can bring learning into focus for a variety of students. Released from the social, emotional, and educational obstacles sometimes found in traditional school environments, students are left with a clear path to learning. Approached responsibly, the home school process can instill confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

The Importance Of Sharing Stories With Your Child

All official research shows that the early years involve the highest rates of learning, and the habits formed at a young age will stay with them for a lifetime. It’s therefore a perfect time to introduce children to books which educate and inform throughout life.

Children of any age can benefit from experiencing books on a day to day basis, and it’s always best to make time for children to be read or be read to each and every day. A good selection of quality children’s books is a very important part of the whole literacy process, but not all children’s book are recommended.

Grabbing a children’s book or two at a supermarket check-out is no guarantee of quality, and children may become bored or turned-off reading by some less authoritative works on the market.

Children are never too young to enjoy books, and for babies it’s not just about reading the words. It’s also about enjoying the interaction with the parents as the child sits with them and enjoys the attention. Babies feel comforted by a parents voice.

Bedtime stories are a great way to help send babies off to sleep, and help to develop memory skills during repeated tellings of favourite tales. Introducing reading to babies sets them on the road to the wonders of the written word, and help provide a useful grounding in listening and reading skills as they grow.

Toddlers also love the bright colours and images, as well as the repetitive text of stories that focus on familiar everyday events. At this young age, books do not have to include words in order to be enjoyable. Toddlers have the imagination to take picture books and create their own stories around the various pictures in the book.

Toddlers often enjoy looking at the same book, or having the same story read to them over and over again as they anticipate what is on the next page. It’s also a good age to learn the basics of language and numbers, and reading along to stories and counting books will aid their understanding of words and numbers.

Favourite characters from their favourite Bailey Hill story books are a particularly good way of teaching the basics in fun ways they will enjoy. Preschool children are often excited to read and learn about the wider world outside of their home, school, or environment. They enjoy listening to slightly more complex texts with more in-depth characters and still enjoy good rhythm and some repetition.

Stories with a sequence allow children to predict, repeat sounds, and make word plays. Personalised children’s books are most appreciated at this age. Produced with the child’s name and other details included in the printed copy, it makes them and their friends or family part of the exciting story. Great for building self confidence, and a perfect way to encourage them to begin learning to read by themselves as they’ll already know at least one of the words in the book !

The Long And Short Of Long Island Schools

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 7:48 pm

Want to know more about Long Island Schools? Long Island Schools consist of 125 public school districts, 416,093 students and 29,901 teachers. About 88.4 percent of high school students on Long Island go on to enter post-secondary education.

The biggest issue as a whole for Long Island Schools is determining the budget. A recent challenge to the state school funding system, by the Campaign for Fiscal Equity, led the New York State Court of Appeals to require the state to adopt a special funding plan to make sure that all students are given access to a proper high school education within the public school system. The Court appears to be in conflict with Governor Pataki, who is trying to push through a $400 million voucher plan. Under this proposal, parents of 1.8 million school children throughout the state would be eligible for the new credit. State aid has increased 65 percent since 1995. Pataki believes that this education tax credit will give parents new resources and flexibility to meet the educational needs of their children, including the students of Long Island Schools.

Pataki has many detractors, who don’t feel that vouchers are the way to go. Danny Donohue, president of the Civil Service Employees Association says that public schools still have too many unmet needs to spend $400 million on a voucher plan. Timothy G. Kremer, executive director of the NYS School Boards Association, says that the tax break is “a $400 million gift from taxpayers to families who don’t need it.”

“The NYS PTA believes that every child deserves equal access to the same outcome, that is, an excellent education,” Donohue adds, “That means using our government’s resources to close gaps, not create them; to raise student achievement of all and not just for some; and to prepare students for a democratic society for which public schools remain the best forum.”

How does all of this impact Long Island Schools as a whole? All the Long Island Schools reap benefits from additional funding, so help from the state would not be unwelcome. However, what each of the Long Island Schools spends their money on and what they need money for varies greatly.

In the Baldwin District of Long Island Schools, taxpayers are actually getting a break, after representatives netted an additional $23.6 million in state aid. Since this district’s budget didn’t change this year, the extra state aid the district received lowers the amount that homeowners have to pay.

Not every district in Long Island Schools is mired down in a budget quagmire. Consider these Long Island Schools. East Rockaway’s High School class of 2006 had one of the highest Regents diploma rates ever (91%), and 96% of students went on to college. The dropout rate at the school is ZERO, and students excel not only academically but in drama, music, and sports as well.

Also seeing fantastic success within Long Island Schools is the Lynbrook School District. They have scored consistently high grades on the NY State Assessment tests: 100% of fifth graders passed the 2006 social studies exam. Nearly 90% of this Long Island Schools’ middle school students passed the English Language Arts test. Last year, just like the seniors at East Rockaway, 96% of Lynbrook High School seniors went to college. The district’s diverse academic programs have won many awards, and its Long Island Schools’ athletic teams continue to excel.

In short, Long Island Schools have a lot to offer students and their families. Concern and involvement from families, community and political leaders over budget spending, and an impressive roster of successful schools are the tip of the iceberg in this area of our nation.

The Ineffectiveness Of A Learn Spanish Book

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 5:26 pm

Back in the day when someone wanted to learn a language, there was much classroom instruction and consulting of books in order to achieve a successful result. Long hours and hard work were put into mastering the technical aspect of the language through a course of study that one might use to learn history or art. But speaking a language properly often comes down to hearing it spoken properly. Which is why, more often than not, a learn Spanish book falls significantly short in teaching the language.

With new and better technological advancements coming to market every day, the world of language has opened exponentially. Gone are the days of seeing a word in a learn Spanish book and translating them in your head. Today’s language tools allow us to hear how the word should sound so that we replicate that sound and improve our dialect.

For many years the most popular learn Spanish book that students could find in bookstores was the English/Spanish dictionary. Such a book translated English words to Spanish words and vice versa. The pocked-sized versions allowed us to carry the dictionaries around with us in Spanish speaking countries so that we could look up words that we didn’t understand or needed to speak. The modern equivalent of this dictionary is a personal electronic device that translates words so that we can hear them. We simply type a word into the system in English and speaks it back to us in Spanish.

The other modern alternative to the learn Spanish book is an instructional DVD. Such a DVD offers classroom-like instruction wherein students can learn Spanish by watching the lessons from the comfort of their own home. Because it’s a video, students can watch it as much as they want so they can learn at their own pace. CDs are also a great alternative to the learn Spanish book; hearing the Spanish spoken rather than just reading it can be extremely beneficial. And for most, a CD that they can play in their car or through headphones while they are doing other things is the height of convenience.

The Ins And Outs Of E-learning

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 3:13 pm

The field of teaching has become revolutionized with the concept of E-learning. What is E-learning? E-learning, (which is also known as electronic learning), is when computers are used to assist in the learning process. The concept can be expressed in a variety of ways including through use of separate software, utilization of the Internet or even simulated ‘virtual’ environments. This article will discuss each of these aspects of E-learning.

Before the Internet became popular, E-learning was done through special software programs known as ‘edutainment.’ As its namesake would indicate, E-learning through edutainment involved teaching people things while also entertaining them. Popular edutainment titles included Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and The Miracle Piano System. In its heyday there were edutainment programs that allowed for E-learning through both computers and video game consoles. Today, E-learning through edutainment has died down, though it has been revived a little bit through Leapster. This is a video game system that features edutainment for children in elementary school.

So, if E-learning through edutainment has lost popularity over the years, what is the current venue used for this method of education? The answer is the Internet. With the availability of the Internet, E-learning goes in a direction that edutainment could not. This direction involves interactivity with a professor. In a typical Internet E-learning setup, professors communicate with their students through message boards, chat rooms and e-mail. In fact, Internet E-learning is so effective it is possible to earn a high school diploma or a college degree right from the comfort of your own home. Of course, this is only if you want to take Internet E-learning this far. Internet E-learning can also be used for less intense forms of learning such as tutoring or research for academic papers.

The other form commonly used for E-learning is through interaction with a simulated virtual environment. This involves placing students in a computerized scenario where they have to use both their wits and knowledge of whatever subject they are learning to successfully achieve the simulation. E-learning through simulated virtual environments is commonly done for helicopter or airplane pilots, who may have to fly a ‘plane’ through virtual airspace sometime during the course of their training. It is also used in the military. In terms of individual usage on personal computers, there aren’t too many simulated virtual environments available. And the ones that are would be more in the realm of edutainment, as an ‘official’ simulated virtual environment must have both realistic controls and a 3D environment. Granted, personal computers can produce 3D graphics, but they cannot provide the types of controls that are available with industrial-grade simulated virtual environments.

In conclusion, E-learning can be done through software, the Internet or through simulated virtual environments. Whichever method you choose for your E-learning needs, you will find that the E-learning process in general is much more convenient than traditional classroom teaching. Whether you are learning through edutainment software, chatting with a professor in an online classroom or virtually flying an airplane, with E-learning you can learn at your own pace at your own time. You can even have a little bit of fun in the process. Indeed, no other concept has revolutionized people’s academic experiences as E-learning.

The Magic Number For Your Keyboard Success

Are You Looking for a Magical Solution?

Are you struggling with trying to figure out how to play well?

Are you feeling overwhelmed by so much to practice, so little time?

Are you looking for a way to know what to practice so that you will improve quickly?

An adult student named Liz told me that she finds that she can’t decide what to practice because there are too many choices.

Sue often complains that although she’s learned many songs, she can no longer play them.

She’s frustrated because she loves practicing her new pieces every day, and wishes she could pick up something from the past and just play it.

Has this happened to you?

It’s Not Rocket Science

When the young man asks, “How do I get to Carnegie Hall?”

the elderly New Yorker responds, “Practice, practice, practice.”

Notice that the word practice is stated three times.

It takes 3 weeks to establish a good habit, but only 3 days to lose it.

Every time you focus on one specific musical goal for 21 straight days, you will establish a new keyboard success habit.

Establishing Your Keyboard Success Habit

Here are the three things you need to do to establish your keyboard success habit.

1.Make a choice

Success does not come from practicing all of your songs, exercises and/or classical pieces all the time. There simply aren’t enough hours in the day for this.

In order to get great results, you need to pick one piece that you really like and want to learn to play well. You will still practice your other music, but now you have selected one special piece that you want to master, memorize or both.

2.Focus on your number one priority

You need to practice your selected special piece every single day. Sometimes this will be the only thing you practice. Other days, when more time is available, you can give attention to your other musical material. The most important thing is that you concentrate single-mindedly on your number one priority: to practice your special piece daily.

3.Make a commitment and stick to it

Promise yourself that you will keep your commitment to practicing this one special piece for 21 consecutive days, just three weeks. You will amaze yourself when you hear how much better you sound. Your confidence will improve too!

Action Exercises

Here are three steps you can take immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, select one special piece, practice it every single day for three weeks. All of your other music can receive your attention after you focus on your number one priority.

Second, remember that once you see the great results of your efforts, you’ll be so excited that you’ll repeat this process with another one of your favorite pieces.

Third, take this method up one more notch by practicing your special selected piece every day for three months. Your musical success is guaranteed!

The Making Of A Home School Group

Deciding to home school your children is a big decision to make. Now that you have decided it is the right thing for your family, you certainly have to make sure that your children are getting the best out of the entire learning experience. Having a home school group is a great way to make sure that it happens.

So What is a Home School Group?

A home school group is something that every home school atmosphere can and should take advantage of. You can have a school group with other children who are being home schooled in your town or city. When you have a home school group meeting, all of the children who are being home schooled will be able to get together, to talk, and to share their learning experiences.

A home school group is very important to the development of your home schooled child. One of the benefits of home schooling is that you can be in charge of what your kid is learning, how, and when the learning taking place.

However, one of the major drawbacks of home schooling is that your child is not getting the socialization that is necessary for good social development. If you have a home school group that meets quite often, you are going to be giving your children the right dose of socialization as well.

There are several things that a home school group can probably do. They can get together to participate in sports, or they can even get together to have certain learning classes at the same time. You can also go on field trips with your group.

You can even do things together in a home school group that your children would do in regular school, like holiday parties and other events. If you can have a home school group that your children can be a part of all the time, they are going to also learn how to get along well with others, and you are going to have a well rounded child.

You should check with your local home school association to see if there is already a home school group that your children can join, when you decide to home school them. Having kids at home, but also giving them the support of a home school group is very important to their development as a whole. Remember that this is something that every home schooled child should be a part of during their lives.

The Many Good Reasons To Think About E-learning

As the benefits of E-learning are realized, it is fast becoming the norm in business and is offered by more and more organizations. E-learning is an easy and qualitative way to develop a new skill or enhance an old one.

Missing work to attend a training session is becoming outdated now that the Internet is cultivating a new way to learn on your own time. It is E-learning, a training method that works with your busy schedule, budget and skill level. Here are some of the benefits of online training compared to that crowded classroom.

There are no geographic barriers with E-learning. You don’t have to take the course offered by your local college; you can choose from thousands of courses in your subject area from providers all over the world. Instruction is delivered in multiple learning styles allowing you to choose the one course that’s right for you.

E-learning courses adhere to your schedule, not the learning provider’s. You can do your learning at home, at work, in the coffee house, or anywhere else the internet is available. Often, course materials can even be downloaded and printed for offline study. You can spend less time on areas you already know well, and as much as you need to on material that is new to you.

Costs can quickly mount up when attending classes. Aside from the inevitable cost of the course itself, there are the often forgotten costs of travel &ndash fuel, vehicle maintenance, and even parking all add to your overhead. Not to mention that important call you missed by being at the college instead of in the office.

Interactivity in E-learning takes many forms. There may be a multiple-choice test at the end of each topic, quizzes scattered through the subject matter, or an overall test at the end. Whichever form taken, these dynamic quizzes provide you with instant feedback, so you are aware of which areas you know well, and which you may need to review again. And with most E-Learning, there is no need to retake the whole course &ndash just redo the area you were weakest on, retake the test, and move on &ndash confident in your knowledge of the subject matter.

E-learning allows you to choose topics of interest to you. Studies show that students have a higher retention of material when the subject is of greater interest.

You can make mistakes and try again with E-learning. You decide where the error was and how to correct it. If you are wrong again, you just try again. The embarrassment of failure in front of a group is gone. The computer won’t judge you.

Courses are constantly being updated and changed in real time. This helps you to acquire the most accurate information on any given subject.

Have you ever walked around a university campus and seen the hundreds of cars in the car park, and thousands of students from all over the world? Imagine if they could all just stay home and learn. They could &ndash but who would deny young people the fun of college life. You, however, can save yourself the petrol, diesel or jet fuel costs and associated carbon emissions by getting yourself a quality education while sitting at your desk - or lounging on your sofa!

Given its oblivious advantages and societies need to continually educate ourselves; E-learning has a lot to offer and will increasingly be embraced by educators and learners alike.

The Many Benefits Of Learning A Language

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 12:54 pm

If you have a little extra cash and extra time, then investing it is always a great idea. No, it does not mean that you will have to get a sideline or put up your own business. There are loads of ways to invest them. Heck, you can even invest them in yourself. Investing in one’s self is never a waste as one way or another you will be able to use it for your advantage when the situation calls for it. One of the few ways is to learn a new language. It could sound a bit difficult but as long as you are willing to learn, then it would make everything else easy.

So first, you have to convince yourself to learn a new language. Knowing how to speak in different tongues has a lot of perks! Now, you don’t have to do that anymore because below is a list of reasons, especially compiled for you, on why you should learn a new language.

Business

Of course, the business industry is the broadest one all-over the world. Billions of people buy and sell, and you are definitely not an exception. After all, globalization is a trend nowadays. Everyone is connected so if you want your business to flourish, you can do it by being multilingual. Business transactions with a Chinese customer are made easier and faster. On the other hand, if you want your client to learn your language instead, then it might take you years or never at all to finish those transactions. You should avoid being stubborn. Being able to reach out to your clients is an asset. So your effort, money and time in learning that new language are not wasted at all. Who knows, that client might recommend you to his or her friends.

Friends/Networking

If you are still in school, then this is your chance to make good friends with guys from around the country. That foreign exchange student could be your long lost soul mate, who knows? Learning a new language could help you climb your way up to being the most popular kid in school. Besides being able to have a lot of friends can improve your networking so that you can have a lot of connections when you finally join the corporate world. Connections are very important, especially in a dog-eat-dog world. So start young and make with as many friends as you can. They could be Asians, Russians, Koreans and Puerto Ricans. Don’t be choosy. They could help you in the future.

Fun

In the process of learning a new language, you will not only learn, but also have fun. You will meet new friends while this of course will depend if you are studying in a school or someplace where you can converse with someone going through the same process as you are. You will also have fun knowing new words. Some words are said in a very different way or tone. For instance, though they still speak English, the Aussies have that certain accent. The Japanese, too, have an accent and can’t quite pronounce the letters L and R. Some words also, even if they sound or are spelled the same way, mean another thing.

Job opportunities

When you started young, just like mentioned above, or if you are already multilingual because your parents have different nationalities, then you should be grateful. When applying for a sought-after position, employers or the human resources department have a hard time choosing over hundreds of job applicants. So the only way to pick out THE ONE is to look for that person who stands out. Now, that would never be a problem for you. You would definitely stand out since you already have that edge of being able to speak in different tongues. And other than that, you are more versatile. You can get into the arts easily. Being multilingual may seem like you are pretty much exposed to different cultures.
